Mark Shepherd

1st Open B.I.C.C. National Alencon
645 members sent 6,823 birds

Well Done Sam & Mark. The winning pigeon now called "Durham Dazzler" is THE SAME PIGEON that Mark clocked from Falaise to win 5th Open B.I.C.C. National 3,229 birds a couple of weeks earlier. Then for the same pigeon to come and win 1st Open B.I.C.C. National Alencon is a great achievement and more so when you consider this is only the fourth race of this yearlings career!!! Credit to Mark for his top management it getting the young cock fit and healthy for both Nationals. Well Done Mark.
The National winning cock was bred by Mark's good friend from the North East, Colin Priestman of Consett. The sire is 100% M & D. Evans bloodlines and obtains several top names throughout his pedigree, "T.C", "Amber Louise", "Wittenbuik 360", "Shadow". All super breeders housed at Myrtle Lofts. The dam is a Van Dyke bred by Stuart Inett from a son of the "Hannibaal" obtained from Syndicate Lofts when paired to a daughter from Stuart's No 1. stock pair "Mr Clean" x "Dirk Hen"

Mark outlines below how The Durham Dazzler and his nest mate brother developed into two top class racers.

"I think the performances of The Durham Dazzler have surpassed my wildest dreams. Having not raced as young birds Dazzler & his nestmate went to Lyndhurst, the 2nd race of their lives and came over the top of the trees together! The nestmate trapped a lot better and finished 4th Fed, with Dazzler doing a couple of laps of honour and finishing 10th Federation"

“Durham Dazzler” raced 4 times in his life achieving;

19.04.14 – 10th Fed Lyndhurst, 112 miles/180 km.

03.05.14 – 5th Open B.I.C.C. National Falaise, 201 miles/323 km - 3,278 birds.

17.05.14 – 1st Open B.I.C.C. National Alencon, 230 miles/370 km - 6,590 birds.

John Halstead

2nd Open B.I.C.C. National Alencon 6,823 birds

The 2nd Open National winning pigeon for John is named Ruby’s Lad and is a blue yearling widowhood cock of M & D. Evans bloodlines. The sire is bred down from original purchases from Myrtle Lofts back in 1999. These were from "Jester" & "Carrie", "Nationaal Fideel" & "Belle", "Pearce" & "Jade Leanne". Two more M & D. Evans hens were introduced from Myrtle Lofts in 2010 and one of these is the dam of Ruby’s Lad a granddaughter of Eisenhower and  Golden Gaby. John is an outstanding fancier who has achieved outstanding results at the highest level year after year. Well done John on another National performance which you can add to your unbelievable list of achievements.

Paul, Wendy & Brian Hyatt

Brian, Wendy & Paul

The 1st Section C, 2nd Open National winning pigeon for P. W & B. Hyatt is a four year old widowhood cock. This same pigeon that was 60th Open B.B.C. National from Carentan two weeks previously. He is 100% M & D. Evans bloodlines and both parents were bred at Myrtle Lofts. Sire is a direct son from "Jas" & "Jade Leanne". Dam is a direct daughter from "Home Alone" & "Lady of the Rings" The partners have raced M & D. Evans pigeons since the year 2000 with outstanding success. Quoted by the partnership as the best pigeons they have ever owned after a lifetime in the pigeon sport.

Ronnie Scammell & Paul Peploe

1st & 2nd Open Welsh National Carentan

Paul & Ronnie

The 1st Open National winner for Ronnie and Paul is a direct M & D Evans blue white flight cock flown on the roundabout system which before this race has flown consistently winning achieving many Club and Federation prizes. Their second pigeon on the clock taking 2nd Open National is also M & D Evans bloodlines crossed with the partnership’s well known 'Nearly Cock’, known famously for recording many 2nd National winning positions but failed to record a first. Maybe a son will now take on that legacy from its sire in future years - only time will tell!. This cock is also flown on roundabout and to date has recorded 2 x 1st Clubs 2 x 2nd Clubs and now a 2nd Open National beaten by a loft mate.
