Micky Watts

1st & 2nd NFC National Guernsey

 Micky Watts

I must say congratulations to my good friend Micky Watts. What a fantastic racing season he has had in 2015. He’s won the following top awards. 1st BICC National Tours (480 members) 4,315 birds. 3rd & 10th BICC National Alencon 4,634 birds. 6th & 18th National Tours 4,315 birds. 1st & 2nd NFC National Old Hens Guernsey. 1st, 2nd & 3rd BICC National Old Hens Guernsey.
That is 3 x 1st Nationals in one year. Many top fancier don’t achieve this in a life time. Well done Micky. These results are the rewards for your hard work, good judgement and dedication. Micky's 1st NFC National old hen winner dropped with her nest sister to win 1st & 2nd Open National. Micky told me that they clocked on the same second to take first two places. Sad that her nest sister had to claim 2nd National. Both these two hens were bred by Mark Evans (M & D. Evans) Myrtle Lofts. They were bred from “Blue “Excellence” (Son of Solitaire & Band of Gold) when paired the inbred Jester & Carrie hen “National Carrie”

Steve Best from the partnership loft of John Best & Son sent me the above photo. “Stitches” winner of many prizes including 1st Federation 605 birds, 3rd National 10,617 birds this year 2015. “Two Gems” 1st Open NEHU Futurity 2015. Both hens are full sister bred from a grandson from “Champion Shadow” Congratulations and credit to you both, on outstanding management throughout the year.

Billy Bilsland

Billy Bilsland

Not surprising to see Billy and his breeding partner David Read back at the top of the Scottish National once again. Billy’s top management plus the top stockman-ship of David Read which between them you have a formidable cocktail waiting to explode! Outstanding performance once again.

Ian Bromley holding his 1st Open National winner

The 1st Open National winner of the Welsh South road National from Saintes in France was clocked by the Pontypool partnership of Ian and Tracy Bromley doing a record velocity of 1266 ypm. The National winner is a two year old roundabout cock which won 1st Fed as a young bird plus many other top Federation positions in the past two years. He was raced on the roundabout system in the early races, however the birds were mated specifically for the Saintes National and he was sent sitting his first nest of eggs of 2015. His sire is an M & D Evans Vandenabeele bred by Steve Vaizey from Fareham and purchased by the Ian & Tracy at a Europe Classic One Lofts Race Auction. The dam is Scammell & Peploe bloodlines also from Pontypool, South Wales. This pair of pigeons has now bred 6 x 1st Federation winners, the partners’ 2011 Lillers Young Bird National winner plus their latest 1st Saintes National winner 2015.

Scammell & Peploe

It was great to hear that my two old friends Ron Scammell and Paul Peploe have once again achieved another outstanding performance in the Welsh South Road National from Nort-Sur-Erdre in France. This must take their total of National wins into double figures!! Great flying lads and credit to you both for all your hard work and dedication. The winner a yearling widowhood cock racing in his first ever channel race. His breeding is an M & D Evans Vandenabeele from Myrtle Lofts Champion “Shadow” bloodlines x Graham Thomas and Son’s Ad Schaerlakens bloodlines.

Paul Kenny

Paul Kenny (photo courtesy of Chris Sutton)

Paul had two come together to take 2nd & 3rd Sect/Zone F and 3rd & 4th Open National over 5,710 birds. The first on the clock was a yearling on 1286.6ypm over 293 miles/471 km. Second on the clock was also another yearling on 1286. Both birds are from M & D Evans stock. The first bird home and over the pad was 1st  Club from Portland two weeks ago against 416 birds and is from the lines of “Gaby 701”, “Carla's Girl” and “Golden Bliksem”. Their second bird is from the lines of “Pre Olympic”, “Davina”, “Irish Cock” and “Jade”. This is a real team effort with three generations involved in the day to day running of the loft and Paul say’s that he could not race pigeons to this standard without the help he receives from the family. The Kenny team had an excellent race, having sent eight birds and had all of them home on the day in great condition.
